Tofu is loved because it is flexible. It may not be much on its own, but when seasoned or dipped, it can be an amazing dish. When grilled, it gives it a delicious smoky flavor that is hard to resist. For your next grilling session, substitute tofu for meat and try these delicious grilled tofu dishes.

Grilled Sriracha Tofu

What do you need:

  • 1/4 kilo of extra firm tofu cut into cubes

  • 1 cup of sriracha sauce

  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 2 teaspoons of garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Combine sriracha, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, garlic powder, ginger, and black pepper in a bowl. Stir to combine the ingredients well. Toss the tofu cubes into the mixture and thread onto skewers, reserving any additional marinade. Arrange skewers on a plate, cover, and refrigerate at least 1 hour. When done, cook on a preheated grill over medium-high heat until cooked through, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Brush with extra sauce before serving.

Tofu skewers with lemon and rosemary

What do you need:

  • 1/4 kilogram vacuum-sealed tofu, cut into 1/2-inch slices

  • 3 cloves garlic, finely grated

  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

  • 1 tablespoon of tamari

  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed

  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil

  • black pepper to taste

In a small baking dish, combine the garlic, lemon juice, tamari, rosemary, olive oil, and black pepper. Soak the tofu slices in the marinade for at least 1 hour, turning once halfway through. When done, thread onto skewers and cook on preheated grill over medium heat until cooked through, about 10 minutes per side. Serve immediately.

What do you need:

  • 2 blocks extra-firm tofu, drained and patted dry, cut into 8 pieces

  • 2 cups barbecue sauce

  • 8 slices smoked gouda

  • 8 slices of whole wheat bread

  • 4 tablespoons dry rub

  • Sea salt and ground black pepper to taste

Sprinkle both sides of each tofu with dry seasoning, sea salt, and pepper. Cook on a preheated grill over high heat for about 4 minutes per side. When done, lower the heat to medium and transfer the tofu to indirect heat on heavy-duty aluminum foil. Brush tofu with BBQ sauce every 8 to 10 minutes until ready to serve.
