It is customary to give gifts to the groomsmen as a thank you for the bachelor party and for helping with the wedding. It is very likely that you have never bought a real gift for your friends. There are more websites than you can count that sell groomsmen gifts that can be engraved. Unfortunately, they all sell the same expensive junk. Are you seriously going to buy the guys engraved flasks, beer mugs or cufflinks that will probably be in a cupboard or drawer? Or are you going to give it some thought and get them something they’ll use and appreciate? Here are some great suggestions.

1. Cordless Drills – Every passionate American will find a use for one. If your guys don’t own homes now, they probably will eventually and there are hundreds of uses for a cordless drill around the house. Every time they hang a picture or use it to screw a piece of furniture, they will think of you.

2. A good quality pocket knife or multi-tool, such as a Leatherman or Swiss Army knife, is helpful. Not only do they have a sharp blade, but they also carry extra tools like screwdrivers and even pliers. I wear mine at work all the time, so it was one of the first things that popped into my head when I was thinking about gifts for my wedding. I bought each of my groomsmen a nice $65 Leatherman and to this day they all wear them daily.

3. Take the boys, your gift, out to one of their favorite sporting events. This could be a bit expensive depending on the sport, but you can usually buy baseball or basketball tickets for a relatively low price. It’s all the extras like beer and food that could make this a bit pricey, but it’s worth it. Have you ever had a bad day at the ballpark with your friends? I have not done it

4. iPods or MP3 players. It seems like everyone has one of these days, but they’re still a great gift. The only drawback to this is that they have become so common that everyone seems to have one or two of these at home.

5. TomTom or Garmin. These GPS devices are very useful if you need to travel and they can be a riot if you download some of the funniest voices on them. My brother-in-law bought one for Christmas and we drove around town for an hour laughing hysterically at the instructions given by Cartman’s voice. One big plus is that prices for these have dropped dramatically in recent years.

6. A Dremel or Roto Zip tool. If your guys are handy around the house, they might appreciate one of these tools. They can be used on a wide range of projects, from removing old grout from bathroom tiles to cutting and sanding. These are really cool tools, but you better have a deep pocket book if you buy them. They start around $100 dollars.

7. If your guys like to grill, get them custom steak marks.

8. Shaving kit. Almost all men spend some time in the bathroom shaving. Some of us are more than others, so you can’t go wrong buying a good quality shaving kit.

9. If you and the boys are golfers, take them out on a golf weekend. This might be a little expensive, but if you and the guys have a great time, you’ll talk about it forever.

10. GPS/digital compass. If your friends love the outdoors, they’ll love one of these. I got one as a gift last year and used it while hunting deer. It’s amazing! Not only does it find north, it can save your car/camp location to it. If you get lost, it will point you in the right direction to get back safely, plus it will tell you exactly how far you are from your campsite or car. You can even use it to go shopping. Can’t remember where you parked at the Bass Pro Shop? This compass will direct you to your car in the largest parking lot.

11. Do your boys like camping? Buy them a new water filtration system, a backpack, or any number of other camping gadgets out there.

12. Fishing equipment. If the boys like to fish, there are countless amounts of lures, reels, tackle boxes, and other knick-knacks you could buy from them. They would probably appreciate it, even if it’s a duplicate of something they already have. How many lures have you lost in the lake?

Don’t feel like you have to give everyone the same gift, as long as they are in the same price range, no one will feel left out. Try to think about it a bit, chances are you know what all the hobbies are, so you can tailor your gifts to their tastes and personalities.
