It’s the week before Christmas and across the land, all is not great

People are looking for shelter and food,

The Horn of Plenty has fooled everyone.

Prices keep rising to everyone’s surprise.

The world we knew has changed course, favoring only a few.

People are no longer safe in their homes.

Violence continues to escalate, guns everywhere.

Caught in a whirlwind of government red tape

Everyone now just has to wait.

The most wonderful time of the year has now turned gloomy and cold.

Millions are now left standing alone

Hunger and disease have taken hold.

People keep dying through no fault of their own.

The weak and frail are no better off

The grief and pain of their cries are never heard

The impoverished masses still abound

It is no longer visible to the powers that be.

There is no cunning to put in motion a respite from this disgrace.

The pace of life moves too fast

The storms were in have no place

Society must now rely on good grace.

A memory of things past must rewrite the day.

For too long we let things decay

Now is the time to reaffirm the faith

Things will get better when we come together.

The needs of many have been erased

Your realm of reality has since been displaced.

They are no longer able to fend for themselves

Trapped in a void where little remains

Now force to take to the streets due to the events that unfold

Bewildered and perplexed the masses keep growing

When benevolence and compassion should be shown

Where people should be thankful this time of year

Although difficult times are ahead, we should be thankful for the things we still have.

This should give us a guarantee of what the future holds.

Those past party moments where life’s jokes flowed free.

Now, they are just thoughts about the struggles we have to endure.

In those moments of reflection where we all like to be

The storm clouds of uncertainty are hanging over us.

The chill in the air from cold winter winds brings little comfort to those who lurk

Waiting for the gentle gentle breeze of a change of season.

Could there be hope on the horizon when the winds change?

If we are to see another year, the winds of change had better be clear.

Free from the intrusion of greed and hate coins.

Where humanity chooses its own destiny.

Now we must proceed with vigor and haste in order to recover our faith.

That humanity will emerge triumphant from the clutches of despair.

To rejoice in the rejuvenation and hope that this time of year should always bring.

To be denied the opportunity for hope and salvation we must expel.

‘Cause it’s this time of year that we have to remember

Our great purpose is to bring Christmas cheer.
