Children are boisterous and like to play rough. Some favorite party games that we’ve found our kids like. You can modify the rules of the games if you want, have a lot of fun!

water gun fights

This is like the classic game of cowboys and indians. The kids are divided into teams and armed with water pistols. The objective is to soak the opposing team. No hostages, just full of war. You may want to make sure they bring extra clothing or only play this game on hot summer games. There are all kinds of squirt guns available, even dollar stores have various shapes and sizes available.

three leg race

With this game it is important that the children are about the same size or one could drag and insult the other. Young children may want to accompany an adult. Pair children into teams of two. Tie the right leg to the left leg of your teams. The goal is to race together, as a unit, and finish the race first. You can make this interesting by making it an obstacle course or you can have a simple run from point A to point B.

War

All the boys have a gun and a holster, or a sword and a holster, and they play war. I encourage children not to point their guns at each other but to pretend to shoot the feet of their victims and make them dance for you. Children’s imaginations usually take over and they find a way to become superheroes, cowboys, bad guys, whatever their group seems to need and act out what they can imagine.

Pirate

Children can dress up as pirates and recreate their favorite pirate movie. From scavenger hunts to dueling, games are only limited by your imagination…or the imagination of children.

spoon race

You need a spoon and an orange, an apple, a tomato, a small ball, or an egg to play this game. All players have a spoon between their teeth and pass the object without touching anything with their hands. The item is supposed to go all the way without falling off, but with younger children this can be difficult.

A twist on this game is that players can place the item in the spoon, then place their hands behind their back and race to the finish line without dropping the item.
