Having a cheap vacation in Bangkok is doable, especially when there are so many cheap hotels available. My biggest concern is how clean or how close the hotel is to the attractions. Budget hotels in Bangkok are clean and many are situated in prime locations throughout central Bangkok. But finding the right hotel in the right place is essential to enjoying a unique holiday in Thailand.

Most would equate the words cheap hotels with shady establishments with dilapidated rooms and noisy backpackers as neighbors. This is definitely not true when it comes to budget hotels in Bangkok. Many affordable hotels in Bangkok are in the 3-star range, some even bordering on 4-stars. Since there is such a drastic difference between Thai currency and most foreign currencies, it means favorable rates for some pretty nice hotels.

The good thing about most budget hotels in Bangkok is that most of them are strategically located in prime locations in the center of Bangkok. Most are also close to Bangkok’s super-efficient BTS Sky Train, which is an elevated train system that runs above popular tourist shopping areas.

Some are already close to a shopaholic’s paradise, like the Samran Place hotel. For THB1000 per night including breakfast, you’ll be just a 10-minute walk from MBK Mall, Siam Square, and the luxury Siam Paragon Mall. There’s even a BTS Sky Train station right outside that can take you across town to other popular shopping destinations.

If shopping isn’t your cup of tea but Thai history and temples are, then New World City Hotel may be the right place for you. Its room rates start at THB1100 per night, including breakfast, and it’s a 5-minute taxi ride from the majestic Grand Palace and tranquil Wat Po Temple. There are also plenty of museums for history buffs to discover.

There are also hotels that put you comfortably on the edge of the hustle and bustle of Bangkok but close enough if you’re looking for it. Bhimann Inn is one such example located in the historical neighborhoods of Bangkok. For 900 THB including breakfast, there is even a small clean swimming pool for guests to use. It is a dream location for budget travelers as it is close to the popular Khao San Road district where cheap food and drinks are readily available.

One last Bangkok budget hotel worth mentioning is Bedrooms Boutique Hotel. A superior room there will cost you THB1400 per night, including breakfast, and you’ll be just a short BTS train station from the chic, trendy Thong Lo neighborhood (Sukhumvit Soi 55), which has some of the best shops and nightclubs, such as Ice Bar… Since there is a BTS station right next to the hotel, it is definitely within easy reach of all of Bangkok’s nightlife districts.
