Farm tractors are distinct and multi-purpose vehicles used on the farm. It is considered the most important agricultural machinery. They are used in conjunction with a variety of agricultural machinery to perform different agricultural tasks. These tasks include ploughing, tilling and shoveling, harrowing, planting, hauling, lifting, pushing, transporting, and powering.

The first farm tractors were made in the 19th century. Early farm tractors were powered by portable steam engines and also grab-powered vehicles. The next few tractors were oil powered and then gasoline powered tractors followed. After 1920, gasoline-powered tractors with internal ignition engines became the model tractors.

The original farm tractors contained a distance front steering wheel with hard front axle. After this type, another type of tractors appeared, they were the tricycles, which have a single front wheel or two front wheels. Trike type tractors were famous for their bright red trike design of the machines. The designs were trend from 1930 to 1970.

Four-wheeled tractors were simpler and safer to operate. They were more suitable for the needs of mechanical agriculture. Four-wheel tractors have two large drive wheels and also two maneuverable wheels. Movable rudders are on the kingpin, and maneuverable wheels can be found under the engine section. The steering wheels and the seat are located in the middle of the 4 wheels, usually inside the enclosed mobile cab.

Today’s tractors may have articulated or non-articulated tracks, tracks, or 8-wheel drive components. They may have computer or electrical controls and are capable of performing a multitude of diverse functions. Several new farm tractors have GPS devices, automatic steering structure, and other mechanical features.

Various types of tractors were developed for different agricultural needs. These include dirt tractors, tall crops, row crops, and service. Farm tractors come in various sizes ranging from small types to biog.

Row and tall crop farm tractors contain interchangeable treads that allow for careful navigation along crop rows. These tractors can go through the rows of tomatoes, wheat, corn or other products without destroying the plants. Farm tractors intended for wheat land are used for intensive field work on wide tracts of agricultural land. Service tractors are generally smaller all-purpose vehicles. These tractors can be used for non-agricultural activities such as gardening, digging, and landscaping. These types of service tractors are attached with turf tires that are softer compared to normal agricultural tires.

Farm equipment and tools are typically hitched or attached to the rear of tractors. The hitch scheme can be two-point or three-point. The three-point hitch scheme is the typical feature on most modern tractors.
