Want to help the environment but find it too difficult to recycle? With these simple tips, you will find that recycling takes a minimal amount of time to save our resources.

1. Keep a recycle bin on hand and make it easy to recycle. It only takes a few seconds to toss an empty bottle, plastic container, or can into a container. Store it in a nearby closet or garage.

2. Recycle the paper. Use paper bags or cardboard boxes to hold the paper. When you check your mail, put your junk mail in the recycling box. Reuse the blank sides of the paper for notes or shopping lists.

3. Reuse plastic grocery bags. Many grocery stores now offer an incentive to customers who bring their own bags by offering discounted pennies per bag. Keep bags in the car for easy access.

4. Old sheets or blankets are excellent protective fabrics for painting, crafts, or home repairs.

5. Spread coffee grounds and fireplace ashes in the garden to add additional nutrients to the soil.

6. Grind the lemon peels in the garbage disposal to keep them smelling fresh.

7. Plastic fruit cups can be used for small jobs around the house, such as painting, cleaning or polishing.

8. Do not throw away clothing or household items that are in good condition. Donate them to charity. Many charities will collect your items.

9. Use plastic containers of margarine and whipped cream for leftovers.

10. Worn cotton items like towels, washcloths, or socks are perfect rags for cleaning, dusting, or polishing.
