“Hurry up now, get that quick.”

“He’s coming soon, here’s the clock ticking?”

Martha ran around everywhere, shouting her orders to everyone.

“Put fresh water in that vase!”

“Oh no, that chair is out of place”

“Sweep the floor, wash the dishes, prepare a lunch of bread and fish.”

Martha ran, back and forth, making everything perfect.

“I see a mud stain on my floor, get the mop, oh here’s some more.”

“Take some water, make a stew, don’t worry, I already know what to do.”

“Oh, God, where could Mary be? I need help now, can’t you see?”

“Maria!” Martha called once more. She then hurried out the door.

“I bet she’s out there having fun, playing dance in the sun.”

“While I’m here running fast, cleaning until I pass out”

“Forget about her, there’s no time to lose, I have to finish” he said hastily.

“Is dinner ready?” she asked Miss Sue: “Same old bread, that will never do”

“I want something fresh and new!”

As sweat dripped from his forehead, he heard someone speaking now.

Turning left, walking fast, he saw Mary sitting sweetly.

Listening, sitting there, right at the feet of Jesus.

“Mary,” he called in clear frustration, “Rest is not your business!”

“Jesus, please forgive Maria for not helping me, I’ve called her twice, can’t you see?”

“Martha” Jesus said, “get some rest, come here and sit down”

“Come on, your work can wait, it’s okay, it’s not late”

Martha complied and sat down, a smile emerging from her last frown.
