“Application Error 17235” appears on the screen when using a DVD backup tool such as “InterVideo DVD Copy” and the program encounters a problem that prompts early shutdown. The error message is because you did not restart your computer immediately after installing the tool, or your computer’s DVD drive is not equipped with the latest driver.
To resolve this error,
1. Go back to the computer desktop and press the “Start” button in the lower left corner of the screen. Click on the “Control Panel” and wait until a new window appears. Navigate to Control Panel and double-click the icon labeled “Programs and Features.”
2. Click the “Name” field under the “Organize” heading to sort the list of all installed programs on your computer’s hard drive. Look for the name of the software that is reporting the “Application Error 17235” message. It will be in the list of installed apps. Double-click the “Device Manager” button. Click “Continue” when your operating system opens a new window asking for permission to open the Device Manager list.
5. Find the item in the menu that is displayed as “DVD/CD-ROM”. Click on the entry to expand a new list of options. Find the name of your DVD drive and right click on it. Click “Update Driver” in the menu that appears. Wait for the current driver installation to complete and reboot the system. Open the program that gives you the error message and try using it again.
Because the error is a general error, there really isn’t much you can do to resolve the issue. But with a little patience and performing the above solution, you should be able to resolve the issue with a minimum of effort and be back to normal.
