There was a time in Bollywood when heroines were not supposed to be taller than their heroes. In fact, if an actress, no matter how pretty she was or how good her acting was, was too tall, she would have a lot of trouble finding work in Bollywood.

However, in these times, things have changed to a great extent and have changed for the better. Today, most of the leading actresses like Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif are taller than many of the male stars and have absolutely no difficulty sharing screen space with them. Bollywood as a whole has become much more accommodating when it comes to the way heroines are perceived. Let’s take a look at some of the heroines who have worked in movies where the heroes were shorter than them.

1. Deepika Padukone is 1.74m tall. She has worked with Shahrukh Khan on two movies, Om Shanti Om and Happy New Year, who is slightly shorter than her at 1.73m tall. She has also worked with Saif Ali Khan on films such as Cocktail, Love Aaj Kal and Saif is quite a bit shorter than her at 1.7m tall.

2. Anushka Sharma, like Deepika, was a model before entering Bollywood. She is really tall at 1.75m tall and has worked with a much shorter Salman Khan (1.7m) at Sultan last year. She has also made movies with SRK like Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Jab Tak Hai Jaan, who is also a little shorter than her at 1.73m tall.

3. Katrina Kaif is one of the most beautiful actresses in Bollywood and she is really tall with a height of 1.73m. She has worked with all three Khans, Aamir Khan (1.65m), Salman Khan (1.7) and Shahrukh Khan (1.73m), two of whom are shorter than her, except SRK, who has the same height than her. She has also worked with Saif Ali Khan on Phantom, who is also shorter than her at 1.7m tall.

4. Sonam Kapoor is another Bollywood leading lady who is extremely tall at 1.75m tall. She has worked with Salman Khan in Saawariya and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and he is quite a bit shorter than her at 1.7m tall.

5. Sushmita Sen was one of the few female protagonists of the 90’s who was really tall with a height of 1.75 m. He has worked with both SRK and Salman on films like Main Hoon Na. Maine Pyaar Kyun Kia and Biwi No. 1. While SRK is 1.73m tall, Salman is even shorter at 1.7m tall.

6. Tabu was another Bollywood heroine in the 90s who was very tall with a height of 1.74m. She was more of an art house actress but in one of the commercial movies she made in the 90s. Saajan Chale Sasural, was taller than her main hero, Govinda, who was 1.73m tall.

7. Shilpa Shetty was another tall actress from the 90s with a height of 1.74m, who worked with Shahrukh Khan in Baazigar. He was slightly shorter than her with a height of 1.73m. She also worked with Salman Khan in movies like Auzaar and he was much shorter than her at 1.7m tall.
