In order to promote the electric car, many of the world’s leading car manufacturers have agreed on a standard plug to be used for charging electric vehicle batteries. Ford, General Motors, Volkswagen, BMW, Fiat, Toyota and Mitsubishi are just a few of the companies that have already signed on, and it is expected to become the industry standard. The final plug design was launched today in Hannover, Germany, and uses a 400-volt supply. The plug will give all electric cars the ability to be recharged in a matter of minutes at stations around the world.

This is good news for anyone thinking of buying an electric car. Not only will it be more profitable for car companies to equip gas stations with electrical power supplies, but you will also be able to travel with your car to other countries. The idea is that charging your car won’t be any more time-consuming or tedious than with a gas-powered car, which is a concept that many EV owners will like.

The image of the electric car hasn’t always been a positive one, however many people in the auto industry are excited to take on a new design challenge that is more eco-friendly. Cars produce much of the world’s carbon emissions, so for many, this is a step that is long overdue. With gasoline prices rising in recent years, many people were already looking for alternative forms of transportation, and electric vehicles were once again in the spotlight. It seems that this time, it may be permanent.

One might assume that if companies of this size have committed, affordable and reliable electric vehicles may be on their driveway sooner than imagined!
