Well some of you may have guessed or already know; however, the Six O’Clock Diet has something to do with restricting eating time. On this diet, you are allowed to regularly eat anything until the clock strikes six in the evening. His next meal follows the next morning when he wakes up. This diet is also known under the description “after six.”

The concept is based on the metabolism and activities of the body. You are most active during the day, so burning fat and calories is faster and easier compared to when your body is inactive. Everything you’ve eaten in a day would be hard to burn off if you continually chew food as your activity levels drop. Other than that, the body “stores” food at night. Most of the body’s functions shut down when we sleep, causing slower metabolism and faster weight gain.

Why six? Some say it’s the right time between night and day. When you stop eating at this point, you give your body some time to work through all the food you’ve eaten without having to deal with more incoming calories and fat like you do.

The thing to remember about the six o’clock diet is that you can eat in the morning, but not what you want. The idea is to eat what you need, not what you can. You still have to watch what you eat and what you need. If you overeat throughout the day, your body may not be able to burn all the excess you’ve eaten. If that happens, you will only gain weight. In the same way, don’t eat very little during the day and then don’t eat anything after six. This will cause stress and fatigue and is more likely to make you sick than healthy. What some people do is that instead of eating three full meals a day, they eat four to six meals and snacks.

Of course, Six O’Clock Diets has its pros and cons. And just like any other diet, it’s not for everyone. The After Six diet can be quite helpful for people who have this urge to raid the fridge or eat while watching TV at night. However, for some people, this can cause insomnia and sleep disturbances. Plus, the After Six diet can also cause you to eat a lot throughout the day because you get that “make up for lost time” feeling. This is supposed to be a diet program, not an eating race against the clock.

However, what does the After Six diet have in common with other diets? The main thing here is discipline. If you have made the decision not to eat after six, then you must also have a firm resolution not to overeat during the day, although you still need to eat well and healthily to meet your body’s energy and nutritional needs.
