Human communication is always three-dimensional. No spoken or written message is just words or rational thoughts. Every exchange between you and another person does and does take place on the following three closely related levels or dimensions of being: emotional, physical, and rational. Any communication attempt will be successful if all these dimensions are respected. Knowledge of this three-dimensional nature is the basis of training. You cannot get much closer to real understanding without these realizations.

This knowledge is the foundation for the use of virtually any training device or medium you can name. For example, the knowledge of the existence and necessity of a rational content is the elemental basis for outlining this attempt and understanding the various ways of doing it. Similarly, knowledge of the existence and necessity of physical content is the basis and reason for the use of any form of audiovisual aid, graphics, illustration, or other sensory communication device. Finally, an underlying understanding of the existence and necessity of emotional content is the basis for the use of what is commonly known as emotional attraction when communicating an idea.

Think about these three dimensions of communication before your next training session and you will definitely notice the difference.
