Many people share the roads and at times it can feel like a battle is being fought between all road users and perhaps this is the case.

Cyclists are a group of people who use the road, and while this may or may not be the only way we choose to move, during the times when we decide to use our bike, we have every right to the roads. .

In the hope that we stay safe while riding our bikes, the following suggestions are presented.

Let others know

We must let others know that we know the rules of the road by driving that way.

When we are about to turn, we must indicate this, if we are at a traffic light, we must stop and simply obey the rules of the road in general.

One of the best things we can do to show that we know the law is to wear a helmet. Of course, perhaps every country does not have a helmet law, but in countries that do, this would certainly be helpful to us and others.

Yes, by doing these things, it would help other drivers to feel comfortable and they could focus on the road and not on us.

To be seen

We must wear clothes that help us make ourselves visible. We may think that drivers might see us, because after all, we are on top of our machine, not inside it. However, this is not how it is often said.

Furthermore, we may or may not be surprised by the number of times a cyclist collides with a pedestrian and, or vice versa, because neither party saw the other.

Therefore, it would be best to wear clothes that make us a little more visible and this is especially necessary when we are using the road when it is dark outside.

Be on the alert

We must always be alert. We must not assume anything about other road users. In fact, if we assume something, we must assume that it is our responsibility to help keep other road users safe because we do not know who they are. Perhaps we would like to assume that everyone is a law abiding user, but history has shown that this is not the case.

Therefore, we must be alert and prepared for any unforeseen event that may happen.
