If you have a job, you probably have to drive through city streets every day. This daily driving adds to the wear and tear on your car parts, so it’s important to take care of your car while driving and when service intervals are due.

Have you ever taken note of how hard your car has to work when you drive to and from work? In the morning when it’s cold and you start your car, the engine has to warm up and adjust to the cold temperature. Use the clutch, gears, gas pedal and brakes just to get out of the driveway. Once on the road, you use all of these car parts, and along the way you encounter stops, low and high speeds, left and right turns, and sometimes obstacles. Unless you’re driving in the perfect environment, chances are you’ll find debris on the roads from previous accidents, maybe vandals strewn across the roads, a truck may have lost some of its cargo, or there are potholes. You would have to take evasive maneuvers to avoid these obstacles and also avoid other road users or potential pedestrians. This can put pressure on the steering wheel, gears, brakes, wheels, and tires. If you hit any of these obstacles, you could seriously damage your tires and wheel rims. A sharp object could cut the tire, or a pothole could break the tire completely.

Because you drive your car every day, it’s important that you don’t miss any service to ensure your car can perform 100% on the road. If you find any wheel and tire damage, be safe and opt to have the car towed if you don’t have a spare. Alternatively, if you can, change the wheel so you can drive to a tire repair shop as soon as possible. Then have the wheel and tire replaced. Once the wheel is replaced, check the alignment and balance to make sure the car will drive perfectly straight and not drift to the left or right.

City driving can take quite a toll on your car, especially the wheels and tires, so be sure to check your tire pressure regularly as well. If you notice any punctures, have them repaired immediately. Be careful while on the roads to ensure your safety.
